Hello hello hello –

How is everyone doing today?

I’m amazing – I had a great weekend – I was out of town with my nieces.

In addition to crazy Aunt Michelley I try to be fun aunt michelley – you know – have a list of things planned for them to do,

get them all tuckered out,

don’t let them sleep too late b/c this is my time to enjoy them,

and then send them back to their parents to deal with the repercussions…lol..

Yes – I am that aunt.. all done with love of course lol

But – I have tried to reel in how much I expect to do with them because I don’t want them to think like I have always thought – that busy is a badge of honor.

I think this is so many of us right?

But the thing is – we get stressed out and overwhelmed and then it effects so many different aspects of our lives.

Today I want to talk a little more about how stress shows up, the importance of gaining control of your calendar so you can take some of that stress down a notch or two.

I think it’s important to first understand how stress effects your overall well-being.

And think about it – your overall well-being affects your energy

so if we can help decrease your stress we can help you feel more energized.

Everyone benefits when you make time for you.

This is something I can’t say enough – it is not selfish to get your shit together and start planning your time with intention.

It’s so funny – earlier this week I was doing a Peloton ride and Robin – I love Robin btw – she said something like – sometimes I hear you say you don’t have time for you –

and then you are spending time google searching your ex from 2002 to check out his vacation pictures –

don’t tell me you don’t have time for you.

Too funny… and too true sometimes right? Lol..

But on a serious note – feeling out of control of your calendar is a large stressor for many women.

So many circumstances need your attention, and at the end of the day you are the one taking care of it all.

And sometimes you wish you had help… but here’s an interesting thing to think about – that help – how often do you think they do it right? Haha – I know I’ve been guilty of receiving the help and then being stressed because it wasn’t they way I would do it.

Here’s one thought – Sometimes I think it’s just easier to do it – since we do it anyways – and instead of spending time thinking it should be different and we should have help – we use that time to give ourselves a high five for getting it all down.

What do they say – ask a busy woman if you want something done right?

The problem is – this can only continue for so along without the stress and overwhelm taking over.

I’ve been there my friend! I get it.

I used to think I didn’t have time for one more thing.

Seriously – I was so overwhelmed with work and when I started doing my first coaching it was a group program

On demand

And I still didn’t think I had time!

Can I tell you something?

I signed up for the group coaching.

I made time.

And now – not only do I still do that group coaching program- I joined a second, I have two personal 1:1 coaches, I started this podcast and I have my own clients I coach in my business.

OH – And – I still have the same corporate job I used to think was so overwhelming and out of my control – in fact – my last two years were my best –

and most importantly – I feel less stressed than ever.

And I tell you this because I want you to start questioning your BS stories.

The ones that tell you can can’t do anything else and you feel so out of control.

What I see happen with some of my clients. – and this was me too – is you turn to things like wine or food

or scrolling on Facebook in order to escape the stress.

But if this is you you know you feel more stressed after because you didn’t get done what you wanted to do.

Now, when I’m talking about Stress I’m using it as a term l to refer to a situation that causes discomfort and distress for a person –

It can lead to mental health problems, such as anxiety and depression.

And – It may also contribute to physical illness.

It is important for you to understand how this shows up for you – and how it may be hindering the results you want in your life.

So we know cortisol is released in response to acute stress.

Excess cortisol can affect you on many levels –

I was recently reading a Health magazine article and they talked about the following areas and how stress plays a part

Did you know?

In your BRAIN – overexposure of cortisol may lead to anxiety, depression, and trouble with short term memory.

In your MOUTH – research has linked higher salivary cortisol levels to teeth grinding – which can lead to jaw pain and headaches.

In your BELLY – Cortisol is the biochemical reason behind some of those comfort food binges.

In your NOSE– If you have the sniffles it might be because Cortisol suppresses your immune system.

In the GUT – With fight or flight response sending blood to your heart and muscles, and away from your stomach, digestion can slow which may mean nausea, and cramping.

In the OVARIES– Cortisol can affect your menstrual cycle by inhibiting sex hormones that stimulate the ovaries to release an egg every month.

And your BEHAVIOR– Mood swings, diminished sexual desire or performance, and frustration can all be affected by stress.

Listen – there are a number of “improve your sex life” podcasts so that is a definite affect.

Being able to manage time and stress is essential for a healthy body and mind.

Step one is awareness.

So – take some time to consider – how does stress show up for you?

Now – I want to encourage you to list your priorities in life.

If you had 24 hours left what would you do.

Now – it’s what you did in the last 24 hours.

How do the two lists compare?

Next – what changes do you want to start making?

Here’s where your brain might tell you you can’t change anything.

Trust me – you can.

If you want to.

It comes down to prioritizing.

And when you start getting that figured out you will help your overall well being.

If you want to get started taking this to the next level head over to michellebourquecoaching.com/freebie and download my new 5 day free course to begin organizing your time.

You really can do this.

There is no upside to thinking you can’t / so why not try?

Ok – that’s what I have for you today – let’s circle back next week but for now make it a great day – take care!
