Michelle Bourque 0:35 Hello, hello. Hello. Welcome back to the podcast friends. How are you doing today? I have to tell you, I am feeling amazing. And in this episode, I am going to tell you why. And it’s going to include some of my shall we say weirdness. Not all, but some. So buckle up. Today, I want to talk to you about the three peas in for this episode, I’m talking about closing a quarter. But honestly, it is for your life and deciding on purpose, where you want to channel your energy, specifically to the idea of living in possibility, probability, or potentiality. And I’m going to share a story about how this recently played out for my team. And then I want you to think about how you can apply it to your life. Now, I am always talking about how you have to live in the feeling of what you think you will feel when you accomplish the goal that you want. Because everything that we do or not do in life, is because of how we think we will feel or resisting how we will feel. So you want to get the new home, make the money, get the promotion, lose the weight, drink lists, find the relationship, insert whatever it is for you. And then ask yourself, how will you feel once you accomplish that? Now, most folks think I need to see it before I can believe it. And think of how many times you’ve told yourself, Oh, I’m not sure if I could really go after that. Because I’ve never done it before. Listen, you will never find evidence for any new goal in your past. If it’s a new goal, you haven’t done it yet. So think of how you will feel and then start taking action from that place. When your energy is in alignment with what you want. The universe looks to make things happen for you. I know that sounds a little woowoo, right. But just keep listening and hear me out because it can be so much fun to play with. And I want to tell you how this recently played out for us. And I will be honest, my human brain almost got in the way. Now, not only do I coach as you know, but I also still work in device sales. And with that we have quarterly quotas. And I love my team. We have not missed a quarter since we have been together. But this quarter, we are not looking so great to start. I will be honest, month two, at the end of month two. So March 29, we received an email from our DM for the rankings. And we were at like 23% to plan. So I was a communications and Human Services major. Not math. But if you are two months into a three month quarter, being at 23% to play on is not exactly stellar. And then on March 30, I had to get our forecasts updated. And I will be honest, I took a look at the comp plan to see okay 91% Of plan could still be respectable. And I would still make some money. Salespeople, you know, you have had this conversation with yourself in the past. Also, I found myself saying things like maybe we just take the hit this quarter and start fresh next plus, we would still have hit the year. And this is the end of our fiscal year. So we should probably be quote unquote realistic. Again, I am using the story specific to sales. But when you’re listening, I want you to think about how this plays out for you. Because they all sound like they’re pretty okay thoughts. But they are not especially the idea of being realistic, based on whose reality and this is where I want to talk to you about living and possibility and probability. I remember I had a manager a while back for about a hot minute and our first call together was him telling me that he didn’t believe my forecast based on my current run rate. Many managers could say that that is living in probability. It’s not where I want to live, and it’s not where I want you to live and here’s why. It keeps you small. So specific to the most current story here. Again, I thought it would be possible Call for us to make 91% to plan, and it was a stretch. But it could also be probable. Now, I want you to think, again about how this shows up in your life, where are you doing or not doing things based on possibility and probability. And another fun example might just be, I was thinking about this, we are talking about going to the T Swift concert, and it is possible that we could meet her there, it is not probable, so likely, I’m not going to go out of my way to prep for such meeting. And to be honest, in this case, I’m okay with that decision. Again, here’s another side note when you make decisions, decide if you like them or not, and then just move on and know that it is the quote, unquote, right decision. Now, hopefully, my niece isn’t listening. She on the other hand, might be prepping for such said meeting. And it’s all fun. That’s how we all get to live in our own little worlds. Right. Now, before I move into talking about potentiality. I want to remind you of the timeline, march 29 23%, to plan March 30, thinking, quote, unquote, realistic. And then on March 31, thank goodness, I did a breath work, I got realigned. And I left a message for the team, we still have a full month playing to get to 91%, the plan is failing in advance. And I apologize to them for having a human brain that I just seem to forget what it is that I teach and talk about all the time. But we are not going to go for that. And many people could rationalize that going for 91% to plan, it just might feel better. Again, right? How you think you feel is really the key, versus going all out and then missing the goal and beating yourself up about it or, and I’ve done this for sure. Many, many, many, many years. Keep going for the goal. But along the way, feel so stressed and overwhelmed. Thinking about all the ways it could go wrong, or how hard it was or how the job has just been too much for me to handle. This is not what we did this time. Instead, I asked us to all live in the idea of potentiality raise our energy to the frequency of us all ready hitting plan. We still had a full month after all. In fact, I sent the team a text. This was so much fun that I wanted to be a fly on the wall when they told the other team members specifically there’s what I had in mind. I don’t know dude, she is batshit crazy talking, manifesting and quantum leaps. But somehow we always figure it out. Now that was on March 31. So I asked what is potentially out there that we just don’t know about. These are the questions to ask yourself, what patients are right there that maybe we just forgot about? Or maybe they’re in the process of getting scheduled. And somehow it’s not on our radar, or what both deals might we not have thought about yet? What is potentially a way for us to get to plan. It opens up your brain to start thinking about new answers. What is possibly out there that you’re just not quite aware of yet. And you know what else I did? Because I am a big believer in music influencing energy. I asked us to each share a Friday feel song so our energy was up and they had some good ideas. Of course, Mark said my song choices were ha me think closing time semi Sonic champion Carrie Underwood. Mama said knock you out. LL Cool J. He might have a point there. But he also said that he was lucky my team was younger because he would never do such a thing. He is supportive, of course, to a point, right, sidenote, don’t always believe the naysayers in your life either. Not only was he sending me ideas, the next week, my sister was sending me ideas. It can be fun, people just get curious. And if you want the Full song list, feel free to send me a DM and I can send it off to you. Okay, so that was March 31. And then things started happening. Patients were getting scheduled accounts decided to order some bulk deals. And I forget which day this was, but it was around the start of the second week in April, if I remember correctly, I said hey, we keep talking about this quantum physics and manifesting. Let’s try to collapse time. The last week in the month we have a few big meetings and trainings and corporate coming in. What if we all get our revenue in before that so that we can just focus on what needs to be done that final week in the quarter? And guess what? April 24. Baby we called in the order that put us over plan you guys. You have to bet on yourself. This is what I teach and coach on and still my brain wanted to play safe 91% to plan and yet there were so much more potential. Where are you missing out on the potential in your life. It can be so much fun. We finished over a plan, live in the idea of the potentiality. What is the downside? You got to feel good along the way. feel curious what else is out there? What else can I do to make this happen? Here is the key. If it doesn’t work out for you, you cannot beat yourself up.
Michelle Bourque 10:23 That is why so many of us don’t go after some of our biggest goals in life. Because we’re so used to telling ourselves, you shouldn’t have done that. See, you know, it doesn’t always work out or you should have known better, whatever it is that you tell yourself. No, no, no, no, no, no, just go for it. Start speaking to yourself with compassion. I am telling you curiosity and compassion can change your life. And if it doesn’t happen the way you expected it, you learn from it, you move on. And if it does, like in this case, celebrate it, be grateful, enjoy it. feeling joy brings about so much more joy for you. And that is where the fun is.
